Oscar voter reveals ‘creepy’ theory on Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo’s ‘Wicked’ snubs

Snubbed for good.

An anonymous Oscar voter explained the reason behind “Wicked: For Good” and its lead stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo scoring zero Oscar 2026 nominations.

“The movie wasn’t that great. The two have amazing on-screen chemistry but spent most of the movie apart,” the voter told NewsNation over the weekend.

“I was also just completely turned off by their promotional performances,” the Academy member added. “They creeped a lot of people out and in their rush to feel authentic, came off as cosplaying.”

Another voter claimed that the two actresses “sucked the air out of any red carpet they were on — and no one wanted to go through that again.”

The Post has reached out to Erivo and Grande’s reps for comment.

The “Wicked” sequel didn’t win over the Academy. Erivo, 39, and Grande, 32, were left out of the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories, respectively, after their joint nominations last year.

The first “Wicked” film scored 10 nominations in 2025, winning for Best Costume Design and Best Production Design.

Erivo and Grande even performed a “Wizard of Oz” universe medley at the 2025 Oscars.

Grande’s 2026 Oscars exclusion was especially shocking since she scored noms at the Actor Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Critics Choice Awards this year. Erivo, meanwhile, only got a Golden Globe nom.

The duo were involved in numerous cringeworthy moments during the press tours for both films, including the viral “holding space” meme. They were also teased for describing each other’s auras.

Their significant weight loss also became a topic of conversation on the internet.

In addition, Erivo and Grande were laughed at for constantly touching each other on red carpets and in interviews.

“We walk hand-in-hand very often,” Erivo said about her bond with her co-star on “The Drew Barrymore Show” in Dec. 2024. “Like, if we’re not walking hand-in-hand, we’ll find each other somewhere.”

“I think we assume that physical connection can only be romantic,” the Tony Award winner continued. “Sometimes you can’t say anything and you’re in a room … it’s just like a squeeze of a hand and that’s sometimes how she and I communicate. We might be talking to someone or I might need to, like, communicate something to her. It’s just a squeeze of the hand or just a pinch of a finger, you know, or a hug.”

Grande also addressed the pair’s constant touching on Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang” podcast in November.

“I channel a lot of energy through my hands. And so I’m always holding a hand,” the “7 Rings” singer shared. “I’m always, like, squeezing a something, as you’ve learned. I’m always reaching for something sometimes.”
