Pamela Anderson reacts to ‘The Last Showgirl’ Oscars snub

No thanks to the Academy.

Pamela Anderson was among the snubs when the 2025 Oscar nominees were announced on Thursday. Anderson, 57, who got a “best actress” Golden Globe nomination for her performance in “The Last Showgirl,” was shut out of that race for the Academy Awards.

“Oh my gosh, it’s not something I ever expected,” the former “Baywatch” star told Elle.com hours after the 2025 nominees were announced.

She added, “Doing the work is the win. That’s what I like to do, and I think we can lose sight of that sometimes in this whole crazy awards season, but it’s nice to be recognized, and it’s all a bonus.”

The 2025 “best actress” race is between Demi Moore (“The Substance”), Mikey Madison (“Anora”), Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked”) Karla Sofia Gascon (“Emilia Perez”) and Fernanda Torres (“I’m Still Here”).

Anderson has been going to awards season events makeup-free recently, and brought her son, Brandon Thomas Lee, 28, as her date to the Golden Globes. She shares him and her other son, Dylan Jagger Lee, 27, with her ex husband, Mötley Crüe rocker Tommy Lee, 62,

“I couldn’t imagine [it] anyway,” Anderson said about getting an Oscar nomination. She noted that she was recognized by the Screen Actors Guild.

“I’m happy for the SAG nomination, that’s [voted on by] your peers. That’s really cool. This has been a long road promoting this film.”

The movie stars Anderson as Shelly, a Las Vegas showgirl who has been spending 30 years doing her act when it shuts down, leaving her uncertain about her future. Jamie Lee Curtis, Kiernan Shipka, and Brenda Song co-star, while Gia Coppola (Francis Ford’s granddaughter) directed it.

“I’ve never read a script that I responded to like that before — no one was sending me anything like this,” Anderson told EW in November.

She added, “I read it and I thought, I have to do this. It’s life or death. It’s really important. I knew I was capable of more than I’d done in the past, and I kind of had given up and went home and thought, oh well, it’s too bad.”

The former Playboy model said that earlier in her career, “I didn’t work hard enough or people just see me a certain way because I fell into the trappings.”

Referring to events from her past such as her infamous sex tape with Lee, she said, “I want to be defined by what I do and not what has been done to me.”

The 2025 Oscars air Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.
