Pamela Anderson is opening up about a near-fatal run-in with a political extremist on an airplane.
The actress, known for her iconic “Baywatch” role, revealed that she was angrily confronted by a man on an airplane who thought she was a member of The Chicks, the Grammy Award-winning country music trio previously known as the Dixie Chicks.
She shared the encounter after being asked if she has ever been mistaken for another celebrity during an interview this week on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast.
“This one time, I was on a flight and this guy came up to me and said, ‘Do you know what this country’s done for you?’” Anderson said on the episode, which was filmed at the 92nd Street Y. “And I was like, ‘Oh, my God. What have I done?’ … I looked back and he was [angry]. Then this stewardess had to handcuff him to the chair because he was trying to attack me.”
The 57-year-old Canada native explained to host Josh Horowitz that the unidentified man confused her for one of the socially-conscious singers, who were canceled after lead member Natalie Maines criticized then-President George W. Bush during a 2003 concert.
“Yeah. Ended up he thought I was a Dixie Chick,” said Anderson, adding “I was scared to fly after that, a little bit.”
She did not indicate the timeline or offer any other specifics about the incident.
Anderson recently received a Golden Globes nomination for best actress for her starring role in “The Last Showgirl,” about an aging Las Vegas performer whose show is closing down.
