In his wildest dreams, Tom Hiddleston didn’t see this one coming.
The actor, 44, was on the UK’s Heart Radio on Thursday, when his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift was brought up by host Devin Griffin.
Hiddleston appeared on the live radio show with his “The Life of Chuck” co-star Karen Gillan.
At one point, Hiddleston spoke about his love for reading about sports in his free time.
“I find myself on the sports highlights,” the Marvel star explained. “It’s football or if there’s been a tennis championship I’ve missed. There’s all these sports journalists who write really beautifully about sport, and I love reading what they’ve written.”
Griffin, 40, then randomly name-dropped Swift, 35, and her online surfing.
Swift recently revealed she reads the NFL injury reports since becoming an “engulfed” fan due to her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
“We did just find out — Taylor Swift, big fan of a sourdough recipe blog,” he shared. “Very, very specific but I see how you could get into that.”
Hiddleston was not expecting Griffin to bring up his former flame and appeared to freeze up.
Gillan, 37, took the lead, stating, “That feels like an Easter egg for something,” before teasing, “I think it might be something to do with the Super Bowl.”
Fans have been convinced that Swift will be the next Super Bowl performer due to noting she has been baking sourdough 60 percent of the time on Kelce’s podcast. The next Super Bowl is the 60th edition at Levi’s Stadium. The venue is home of the 49ers — whose mascot is Sourdough Sam.
Later on, the radio show host poked fun at his faux pas, posting the clip to Instagram, writing: “When you accidentally mention their ex…”
Hiddleston and Swift first met at the 2016 Met Gala and briefly dated for three months. He famously sported an “I ♥ T.S.” tank top during the couple’s Fourth of July weekend at her Rhode Island mansion that summer.
“The truth is, it was the Fourth of July and a public holiday and we were playing a game and I slipped and hurt my back,” he told GQ in 2017. “And I wanted to protect the graze from the sun and said, ‘Does anyone have a T-shirt?’ And one of her friends said, ‘I’ve got this’ … And we all laughed about it. It was a joke.”
“Taylor is an amazing woman,” the actor went on to tell the outlet post-split. “She’s generous and kind and lovely and we had the best time.”
A source told Us Weekly at the time that Swift “was the one to put the brakes on the relationship.”
“Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with,” the insider claimed. “Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn’t listen to her concerns when she brought them up.”
These days, the exes have since moved on.
Swift has been dating Kelce, 35, since 2023.
Hiddleston, meanwhile got engaged to actress Zawe Ashton in 2022. The couple welcomed their first child together that same year and are now expecting their second.
In July, Ashton, 41, clarified their relationship status.
“We’ve been engaged for a long time,” Zawe said on the “Miss Me?” podcast. “And there are — I think there have been publications that have named us husband and wife already.”

Many of their friends and family were sure the pair did tie the knot after Ashton referred to Hiddleston as her husband during a June interview with Vogue.
“Those text messages,” she reflected, “there’s some toxic paragraphs that were thrown my way like, ‘OK, no invite, whatever.’ It’s like, ‘No, no, no, it didn’t happen.’ We didn’t do it in secret. We haven’t eloped. It’s just like a semantic thing.”
Ashton added, “It’s also pissing off people who are actually married. So like, you realize that’s just not real yet.”
While the “Blitz” star sees the “spiritual bond” from making their union official, they aren’t in a rush.
“Engagement has been wonderful,” gushed Zawe. “You can’t cheat the process. And people kind of rush through engagement, and I’m like, ‘Engagement is really useful.’ Why is everyone like, ‘I’m getting engaged to get married?’”
“Be engaged. Work things out,” Ashton said about her best piece of advice. “‘Cause that’s like a big yes that opens up a whole new tapestry of understanding between you, between you and each other’s families. Because you are saying yes to each other’s whole lives. It’s bigger than just the two of you.”
