Pickup truck crashes into Connecticut pizza shop

A driver crashed into a Connecticut pizza shop early Wednesday evening after losing control of his pickup truck.

Meriden police said the driver of a Ford F350 lost control of the steering wheel, over corrected and then slammed into Gino’s Pizza on Broad Street around 5:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported, but the driver, who has not been identified, was cited for driving too fast for the wet, rainy conditions.

The restaurant was damaged and closed for renovations on Thursday. The truck was also damaged and needed to be towed away.

The incident came nearly two months after a Haddam restaurant closed after a similar car crash. No injuries were reported in that accident.

In April, four people were killed when their car crashed into a Waterbury corner store.
