A Pennsylvania teen is facing multiple charges following the stabbing of three schoolmates earlier this week, authorities said, adding that one of the victims remains in critical condition.
Anthony Taulton, 16, of Pittsburgh, has been charged as an adult with three counts of aggravated assault and one count each of possessing instruments of crime and possession of a weapon on school property, the city’s Department of Public Safety announced Wednesday night.
The incident at Carrick High School, which authorities believe stemmed from “an altercation in the hallway,” occurred around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.
All three victims were described as males between the ages of 15 and 18, according to school officials.
Two victims were taken to nearby hospitals to be treated for stab wounds to their abdomens. A third victim, who “sustained a minor laceration,” was treated at the scene and then released.
The suspect was also treated at the scene for a laceration to his hand and then transported to police headquarters.
Police said Taulton told investigators he’d been threatened by some students in an Instagram group chat and brought a kitchen knife from home to school, according to a criminal complaint cited by TribLive.
Taulton is being held without bail in the Allegheny County Jail, online court records show. He’s due back in court on Oct. 1 for a preliminary hearing.
