Powerball jackpot climbs to $1.1 billion after no Saturday winners

The Powerball jackpot will reach $1.1 billion for Monday’s drawing after no one won the grand prize on Saturday night.

The Labor Day jackpot will be the fifth largest in Powerball history and the largest since April 2024.

“America has waited all year for the chance to play for a billion-dollar jackpot, and what better time than Labor Day for a $1.1 billion Powerball drawing!” Powerball executive Matt Strawn said.

Saturday night’s jackpot was estimated at $1.03 billion. The winning numbers were 3, 18, 22, 27 and 33, and the Powerball number was 17.

Nine people matched all five white balls to win $1 million, and three of those nine people won $2 million because they paid extra for the “Powerplay” promotion. Four of the $1 million tickets were sold in California, while the others were purchased in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida and Illinois.

No one has won the Powerball grand prize since May 31, when a California resident claimed the winning ticket. There have now been 40 consecutive drawings without a winner. The cash value of Saturday’s drawing is estimated at $498.4 Million

Saturday’s drawing will be the largest since April 2024, when a $1.3 billion jackpot was won by a ticket-buyer in Oregon. The largest Powerball jackpot in history was $2.04 billion in November 2022. It was won by Edwin Castro, a Southern California resident.
