Prince Harry admits ‘everything changes’ once you have kids: ‘It really hits you’

Prince Harry has candidly opened up about parenthood, saying “everything changes” once kids come into the picture.

The Duke of Sussex, 40, who shares son Archie, 6, and daughter Lilibet, 4, with wife Meghan Markle, is currently on day two of his fleeting four-day visit to the UK.

Just hours after touching down in London Monday, the duke sprung into action to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the annual WellChild Awards.

There, the “Spare” author made a candid admission about fatherhood, saying he has become a lot more “emotional” since becoming a dad.

“I think once you become a parent yourself, everything changes,” the Invictus Games founder told Hello! magazine.

“It’s emotional enough not being a parent and seeing what these families go through, but then when you have your own kids or when you’re expecting your own kids, that’s when it really hits you.”

“And I remember one of these years, I choked up on stage, and that was exactly it. I am so grateful to have healthy kids,” the father of two added.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in Montecito, Calif., with their two children. Harry and the “Suits” alum moved to the US in 2020 shortly after stepping down as senior members of the royal family.

Elsewhere at the ceremony, Harry hailed the young winners as a “beacon of hope and inspiration.”

“While we reflect on 20 years of these awards, the truth is that you are the story. You are the reason we gather here,” he said during his speech.

“Each of you is a beacon of hope and inspiration, not just to those in this room, but to the nation. Keep fighting. Keep smiling. And above all, keep showing us what strength, courage and joy really look like.”

Harry’s anticipated appearance at the ceremony came just hours after he paid a poignant visit to the late Queen Elizabeth II’s grave in Windsor on the third anniversary of her death.

After landing at London’s Heathrow Airport, the former royal was immediately whisked away to St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle — the late monarch’s final resting place.

There, Harry laid a wreath and flowers in a touching tribute to his late grandmother, who died on Sept. 8, 2022 at age 96.

Notably, Harry — who flew to the UK solo — was located just 16 minutes away from his estranged brother and sister-in-law, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended an official engagement to honor the late queen in Sunningdale, Berkshire — just seven miles away from Windsor Castle.

Harry’s brief trip marks the first time he’s stepped foot in the UK since April, when he famously lost his bid for taxpayer-funded security protection.
