A Queens driver has been busted for the rape of a teenager he lured into the car, cops said Wednesday.
Virgilio Taveras, 63, was charged with rape, luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse for the disturbing July 1 incident.
According to court documents, Taveras slowly drove his gray sedan beside a 14-year-old boy around 1 p.m. as the teen walked on the sidewalk, then honked the car’s horn at the boy on 171th St. and Jamaica Ave. in Jamaica, luring him into the vehicle.
“I can help you and get you work. My brother owns a construction company,” Taveras told the boy, the documents stated.
According to the documents, the teen got into the sedan and Taveras drove off, later telling the boy: “You are attractive, do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend?” Taveras then pulled the vehicle over and groped the youngster, asking him: “Do you like this?” the documents stated.
Taveras then pulled the teen’s pants down and performed oral sex on him, according to court documents. Afterward, Taveras put a $50 bill into the boy’s pocket as he got out of the car.
Cops in the NYPD Special Victims Unit arrested Taveras on July 3.
At Taveras’ July 4 arraignment, Judge Marty Lentz set bail at $20,000 cash, and 60,000 in bond. A temporary order of protection was also granted, with Taveras forbidden to have any contact with the teen.
