A hit-and-run driver plowed into two men crossing a Queens intersection, killing one of them and leaving the other clinging to life, early Thursday just hours after the New Year’s Eve ball dropped in Times Square, police said.
The driver of the white SUV was zipping south on 102nd St. in Corona when they slammed into the two men near 37th Ave. about 4:05 a.m., cops said.
One of the men died at the scene. Cops are trying to determine his identity.
Medics rushed the other victim, a 24-year-old man, to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition.
The driver never stopped and has not been caught, cops said.
Members of the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad are scouring the area looking for surveillance footage that could help them track down the fleeing driver.
As of Dec. 19, 108 pedestrians have been killed citywide this year — 10 fewer than by that point last year.
