R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan reveals she suffered miscarriage

R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan revealed on her 38th birthday that she suffered a miscarriage roughly a year after losing her mother in 2023.

The two-time Grammy winner shared the personal message in a reflective post on social media.

“Thank yall for ur birthday wishes,” she wrote in an Instagram Story on Thursday. “Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say.”

Sullivan’s mom, Pamela, died on July 22, 2023, nearly four years after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Also, I realized I woulda been holding my 2 month old son that I never got to meet,” she continued. “So needless to say I’ve been down bad.”

The “Heaux Tales” singer-songwriter, who’s in a relationship with fellow musician Dave Watson, went on to note that through a much-deserved act of self-care, she was able to experience some light amid the dark times.

“Yesterday I had a massage that helped to release some of the deep pain I’ve been holding in for a while. So I’m grateful for that,” she shared. “I’m also grateful that so many of you think of me and take the time to write! It’s all so beautiful. Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s ass whooping.”

Sullivan also shared a video gathered with friends and family around a birthday cake.
