Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard testified in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee Wednesday as senators examined global threats from China, Russia, Iran, transnational criminal organizations, and global instability.
Gabbard opened her remarks highlighting an 83.6% reduction in encounters on the U.S.-Mexico border compared to January 2025, but added instability in Haiti and Cuba could lead to more migration and an opening for smugglers and TCOs. The DNI warned that cartels and narcoterrorists represent a real threat to the American homeland.
Gabbard also highlighted the threat that AI poses to the United States, citing data extortion attacks.
