Readers sound off on Israel and the US, a NYCLASS lawsuit and stopping a pipeline

Two nations united against international decency

Castlebar, Ireland: Our beloved President Michael D. Higgins is reported to have said that “Israel and its arms suppliers should be excluded from the United Nations.” In this, I thoroughly agree with our president. I would even go as far as asking them to expel Israel from the UN.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has had an arrest warrant issued for war crimes against the defenseless people of Palestine, and if the ICJ and the ICC were doing their jobs properly, they should have issued arrest warrants for Joe Biden and President Trump for war crimes for their ongoing provision of munitions and missiles. The IDF are not soldiers, they are murderers and psychopaths who wouldn’t be half as brave if the Palestinians were well-armed. The Gaza health authorities have stated that the death toll is now 65,000. I would guess the true figure is nearer 150,000 when you consider the number of bodies entombed in the destroyed buildings.

I have lost all faith in America in its blind support for Israel. She has forgotten 9/11 and hasn’t learned any lessons from Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iraq. America is controlled by Zionists. Biden even boasted about being a Zionist.

I would like to see the UN moved out of New York to Europe, South America or even Beijing. I don’t see China being a threat to the Free World. Unlike America, which has 750 military bases worldwide, China has one, in Djibouti. John Fair

Playing doctor

Jackson Heights: As a registered pharmacist for more than 40 years who provided Tylenol to my wife when she was pregnant with two future doctors, I’m wondering if Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is asked, after blaming Tylenol for causing autism, “Are you a research scientist?” then answers with, “No, but I did watch the TV series ‘House.’ ” Glenn B. Jacobi

Financial hit

Keyport, N.J.: I just received my renewal info for my Medicare Part D. I want to thank our bigly orange bone spur commander in chief for this hugely increase. Between premiums and coverage, I will now see an increase of $5,000 for my wife and me. Here is where I need to see our Democratic leaders grow a spine (I’m looking at you, Chucky Schumer), pull a page out of the other side’s playbook and not give in. If a government shutdown is needed, so be it. Let the country and the rest of the world see just how asinine our leaders are. And by the way, keep off my lawn. Joe Napolitano

Petty preoccupation

Sunnyside: I wanted to inform your readers that this October will mark the anniversaries of the assassinations of three police officers: Christopher Hoban and Michael Buczek were both assassinated on Oct. 18, 1988, and Randolph Holder was assassinated on Oct. 20, 2025. I keep hoping Trump will announce a proclamation about the assassinations of these heroic officers. Unfortunately, he is more concerned with conducting a petty, personal vendetta against Jimmy Kimmel than speaking out on behalf of police officers. John Francis Fox

Red herrings

Utica, N.Y.: We just watched MSNBC rant about James Comey’s indictment all night. They talked about nothing else. It seems so obvious to us that all of this week’s “calamities” — Kimmel, the UN shenanigans and now Comey — are all meant as diversions from the Jeffrey Epstein case. That’s what Trump is really afraid of. Vote to release them now! Jeff and Joan Ganeles

Dems do it too

Beechhurst: The Biden administration wrote the book on censorship. Witness its strong-arming of various social media platforms to suppress any dissent regarding the origins of COVID-19, the CDC’s egregious lockdown strictures and Team Biden’s weaponization of the FBI to bury the Hunter Biden laptop story. Not surprisingly, the Bidenites wanted to go full “1984” by creating a “Disinformation Governance Board.” Now, in the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk (a modern-day Socrates who cherished open dialogue and debate), the Dems and their media flacks want to make Kimmel a free-speech martyr. What chutzpah and hypocrisy! In his return to the airwaves, that low-ratings, left-wing activist comedian didn’t have the decency to apologize. I don’t condone the pressure that Trump’s duplicitous FCC Chairman Brendan “Easy Way or the Hard Way” Carr put on Disney to indefinitely suspend Kimmel. But when will the left fess up to the censorship crap they’ve been heavily invested in? James Hyland

In his own words

Manhattan: Voicer Thomas Murawski asks for one example of Kirk as a racist. Here are four: “If I see a Black pilot, I’m going to be like, boy, I hope he’s qualified”; “Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people, that’s a fact. It’s happening more and more”; “If I’m dealing with somebody in customer service who’s a moronic Black woman, I wonder is she there because of her excellence, or is she there because of affirmative action?”; and “If we would have said that Joy Reid and Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us… You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.” Michael Barnhart

Absent outrage

Brooklyn: A child was taken off life support after he was shot at Dunkin’ Donuts in Queens! We have heard nothing from Zohran Mamdani, Al Sharpton or AOC! This is who they say they are fighting for! Forgive me, I don’t see it! Maria Ciarametaro

Clear alignment

Bronx: The billionaires offering Mayor Adams a seven-figure job to drop out of the race are committing attempted bribery (and bribery if Adams accepts) and should be arrested for it. That the billionaires are so intent on keeping Mamdani from becoming mayor tells us all we need to know about who Andrew Cuomo will fight for and who Mamdani will fight for. Richie Nagan

Suited up

Brooklyn: Re “Legal beast mode” (Sept. 26): It’s some move that NYCLASS would threaten to sue Transport Workers Union for defamation after all the defamatory remarks, flat-out lies, slander and misinformation they’ve spread about the union, horse-carriage drivers and the carriage industry’s operations. They deserve a counter lawsuit! But the threat of their lawsuit means NYCLASS is scared that something they’re hiding is going to come out! I hope it does and justice prevails for the carriage horses of Central Park. Jill Adamski

Ample war chest

Manhattan: Edita Birnkrant says her NYCLASS boss, Steve Nislick, is prepared to pledge $50 million to the TWU retirement fund, and that he’s not interested in the stables. They’re now openly waving around huge sums of money in their anti-carriage-horse crusade. So, what she’s actually saying is Nislick and NYCLASS have more than enough money to have bought off the Central Park Conservancy and the mayor. Got it. Christina Hansen, carriage horse driver and TWU Local 100 shop steward.

Block it again

Manhattan: The Williams fracked gas pipeline is perilously close to being approved despite New York’s firm rejection of its initial application. It’s still going to saddle us with years of unaffordable gas infrastructure in spiking utility bills. It’s still going to dig up toxic industrial sediments in New York Harbor and raise dangerous methane emissions. What changed? Trump wants it, and it appears that imposing this pipeline on us was a quid pro quo that Gov. Hochul agreed to in exchange for saving Empire Wind from the wholesale cancellation of East Coast offshore wind farms. Rhode Island and Connecticut didn’t bend, but went to court to free Revolution Wind from the ban and won. Here, the Public Service Commission has reversed its previous determination and greenlit the pipeline. Now the pressure is on DEC Commissioner Amanda Lefton to agree to put political expediency over the facts. I urge her to withhold approval. Geri FitzGerald
