The fictitious coffee shop featured in “Friends” is coming to life in Times Square this fall.
The Central Perk Coffeehouse favored by the characters of the popular NBC sitcom will finally come to the city in which it was set, two years after an inaugural location opened in Boston.
Created by “Top Chef” judge and James Beard Award winner Tom Colicchio, along with New York architects Glen & Co., the new Central Perk will have a permanent home at 20 Times Square on the corner of Seventh Ave. and 47th St.
“Opening in Times Square, known as the crossroads of the world, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bring that vision to life, offering creative coffee drinks and delicious food in a space that is both familiar and refreshingly modern,” restaurant developer Paul Landino said in Tuesday’s announcement.
The layout will include the celebrated cozy orange couch on which Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, and Ross Geller famously hung out.

Along with getting their hands on exclusive merchandise, visitors to the Times Square outpost can also sip on Central Perk Coffee Co.’s six original blends, which are also sold online and at select H-E-B grocery stores.
“Friends” premiered on NBC in 1994 and quickly launched stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer to A-list celebrity status. The show ran for 10 seasons and 235 episodes before taking its final bow in 2004.
The sitcom was voted the “greatest TV show ever” in a 2022 poll, beating out other beloved comedies like “Seinfeld,” “Frasier,” “The Office” and “M.A.S.H.”
