Reba McEntire gives update on Kelly Clarkson’s kids after Brandon Blackstock death

Reba McEntire spoke about her late former stepson, Brandon Blackstock, one month after his death.

“We miss him. We miss him every minute,” the country singer, 70, told Entertainment Tonight during the 2025 Emmy Awards red carpet on Sunday.

McEntire, who was formerly married to Brandon’s father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, gave an update on how Brandon’s four children — including his two kids with ex-wife Kelly Clarkson — are doing after their dad’s passing.

“The kids are doing well, they’re all bonding together and hanging out with each other, and taking it one day at a time,” McEntire said. “We know God’s got this.”

McEntire also said that her son and Brandon’s half-brother, Shelby Blackstock, is “doing great.”

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years,” his family said in a statement to The Post.

The late talent manager shared son Remy, 9, and daughter River Rose, 11, with Clarkson, 43, as well as daughter Savannah, 23, and son Seth, 18, with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth.

One week after Brandon’s death, McEntire posted an emotional tribute to him on Instagram with four sweet photos.

“Last week, my stepson/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God,” she wrote. “His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God’s presence.”

“There is no one else like him, and I’m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his family,” McEntire added. “Rest in peace cowboy. Happy trails to you til we meet again.”

Despite divorcing Narvel, 69, in 2015, McEntire remained close with Brandon and was still identified as a “stepparent” in his obituary.

Clarkson, for her part, still has not publicly spoken about her ex-husband’s passing.

The “American Idol” Season 1 champion filed for divorce from Brandon in 2020 after seven years of marriage. The exes went through a contentious divorce that involved fighting over money, custody and property, but the battle came to an end in March 2022.

Clarkson is said to be “devastated” for her kids over Brandon’s death.

“When she found out that he was sick, she remained protective of him for their sake,” a source told People last month.

“Kelly has always tried to keep things classy. It became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well. She’s been devastated for the kids,” the insider added.

A celebration of life for Brandon took place at his Montana home in August. His loved ones, including his partner and Clarkson’s former assistant, Brittney Marie Jones, attended the service.
