Rep. Bennie Thompson skewered by Kristi Noem for calling DC National Guard attack an ‘unfortunate accident’

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, referred to the ambush attack against two National Guard members in DC, killing one, as an “unfortunate accident.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem quickly stepped to correct the Democrat about the Thanksgiving Eve attack in downtown DC.

“Unfortunate accident? It was a terrorist attack. They shot our Guardsmen in the head,” she said.

Thompson (D-Miss.) called on Noem to resign in his opening remarks of the hearing.

“Do a real service to the country and just resign,” Thompson says, “that is, if President Trump doesn’t fire you first.”

The Mississippi Democrat accused Noem of “putting her own interests above the law” in enforcing immigration crackdowns and making America “less safe.”
