Rider, pedestrian killed in New Jersey motorcycle crash



A motorcycle rider and a pedestrian were killed Sunday night in a crash in New Jersey.

The collision occurred around 8 p.m. on Route 37 west and Coolidge Avenue in Toms River, township police said.

The second victim may have been a passenger on the bike, according to RLS Media. Both were found lying on the roadway with severe injuries.

They were pronounced dead a short time after responders arrived. Their identities have not been released.

Parts of Route 37 were shut down while the scene was processed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

No other details were released.

Video taken by a passerby showed a motorcycle on its side in a parking lot cordoned off by caution tape.

The crash was the 44th fatal traffic incident in Ocean County in 2025, with a total of 52 victims, including 13 pedestrians, according to New Jersey State Police data.
