Robert Redford was by his wife Sibylle Szaggars’ side in his final photo before his death.
The Hollywood legend, who died Tuesday at age 89, appeared to be photographed for the last time publicly on October 29, 2021.
Redford posed with Szaggars, 68, at the Prince Albert II of Monaco’s Foundation annual awards ceremony at Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
The couple matched in white; Redford wore a fancy suit with grey shoes, while Szaggars wore an elegant long sleeved patterned dress with matching heels.
They were also seen wearing different colored masks during the event, where they chatted with Prince Albert II, 67.
Redford and Szaggars, a German multimedia environmentalist, made most of their public appearances together at charity events.
In 2015, they received the Princess Grace Foundation-USA’s Prince Rainier III Award in Monaco.
Three years later, the pair were honored at the Ryerson Woods’ 35th annual Smith Nature Symposium & Benefit at the Brushwood Center in Illionois.
“Sibylle and I were honored to receive this award at Brushwood Center, a place that provokes thought and provides inspiration to protect our natural world,” Redford reportedly said at the event.
The “Barefoot in the Park” actor was married to Szaggars from 2009 until his death.
They met in 1996 at Redford’s Sundance Mountain Resort. Szaggars, who was there skiing with friends, knew very little about Redford when they first crossed paths.
“It was a wonderful beginning of a relationship, because it began as two human beings meeting each other and finding a connection as two human beings, rather than being colored by success,” Redford said at a panel for the YoungArts Salon in 2014.
Redford and Szaggars didn’t have children together.
The Oscar winner shared four children, two sons and two daughters, with his first wife, Lola Van Wagenen.
Their eldest son, Scott, died in 1959 at 2 months old due to sudden infant death syndrome. Their younger son, David, who went by James, died in 2020 at the age of 58 after a battle with liver cancer.
Redford stayed out of the spotlight in the final years of his life.
He announced he was retiring from acting in Aug. 2018 after the release of his film “The Old Man & The Gun,” but he returned to the screen in March 2025 to make a cameo in the the AMC show “Dark Winds,” which he also executive produced.
Redford’s death was announced by his publicist, Cindi Berger, on Tuesday.
“Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025, at his home at Sundance in the mountains of Utah — the place he loved, surrounded by those he loved,” Berger said in a statement to The Post.
“He will be missed greatly. The family requests privacy,” she added.
