Robin Wright has offered a glimpse into her “tranquil” new life in the UK, revealing she left the US behind in the wake of growing concerns over its “troubled” state.
The Golden Globe winner, 59, detailed her new life across the pond during an appearance on The View, sharing that she’s called the UK home for “almost three years.”
“All of the American productions I have done in the last three years have shot in England because of the tax break,” the “House of Cards” alum said. “It’s better than anywhere in Canada.”
The Texas-born, California-raised star said her projects have been “back to back to back” — prompting her to set up permanent camp in England.
“I’m troubled, like many of us are, about this state of our country,” she went on, adding that she “ended up loving” life overseas.
“It’s not the reason, I just — I’m so tranquil over there,” the “Forrest Gump” actress added.
Co-host Joy Behar chimed in, asking what Brits think about the current political climate in the US.
“I think they just kind of give a Scooby, ‘What is going on?’” Wright said, imitating a confused expression.
Last month, the actress revealed that she and her boyfriend, architect Henry Smith, are renting a home on the English seaside — joining the likes of Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Rosie O’Donnell, Richard Gere and Lena Dunham in bidding adieu to the US for good.
“It’s liberating to be done,” she told the Times of London. “Be done with searching, looking and getting 60% of what you wanted.”
“I love being in this country,” she said of her new home. “There’s a freedom of self here. People are so kind. They’re living. They’re not in the car in traffic, panicked on a phone call, eating a sandwich. That’s most of America. Everything’s rush, competition and speed.”
“America is a s–t show,” the “Princess Bride” actress asserted.
The “Here” star was previously married to Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010. The exes share daughter Dylan, 34, and son Hopper, 32.
Following their divorce, Wright and “Christy” actor Ben Foster got engaged, but called it quits for the second time in Aug. 2015. In 2018, she tied the knot with Clement Giraudet, but filed for divorce from the fashion exec in 2022.
The actress also had a brief, ill-fated union with late “Santa Barbara” actor Dane Witherspoon. The pair were married from 1986 to 1988.
