Rudy Giuliani has reached a deal that would spare him a trial over whether he’ll have to give up his Florida condo and prized Yankees World Series rings to pay the $148 million he owes two Georgia election workers he defamed, both sides’ lawyers said Thursday.
The settlement was signed Thursday afternoon, just hours after the former New York City Mayor had been set to testify in the case that threatened to cost him his $3.5 million Palm Beach abode and prized sports memorabilia to satisfy the massive sum he owes Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss.
Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. But the agreement, “once certain conditions are met, would fully resolve all issues currently scheduled for trial,” including Giuliani’s son Andrew’s claim that the workers are not entitled to the World Series rings because they were a “gift” to him.
A Washington, DC, federal jury found Giuliani on the hook for $148 million in December 2023 for defaming the two women by falsely claiming the pair tried to steal the 2020 election from President Donald Trump.
