Sacré bleu!
Rupert Everett, 66, told Vanity Fair that he won’t be in the next season of “Emily in Paris” because he was “fired” without explanation.
“For me, it was a tragedy. I was in bed for two weeks because I couldn’t get over it,” he said in an interview published on Tuesday.
“I did a scene in the latest season, and they told me, ‘Next year we’ll speak,’” he claimed.
“I waited for them to call me — but ultimately, it never came, and they just fired me. Show business is always very difficult, from the beginning to the end. When they write the screenplay, they think they want you — but then things change, and they lose your character. I don’t know why.”
While Everett repeatedly claimed he was fired from the Netflix show, a production source told Vanity Fair that he “was hired as a guest star, and his character’s story came to a conclusion.”
The Post reached out to Netflix for comment.
The “My Best Friend’s Wedding” actor was in the Season 4 finale of “Emily in Paris,” playing interior designer Giorgio Barbieri.
He was only in one episode, in which he starred as an old friend of Emily’s (Lily Collins) boss, Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu).
Leroy-Beaulieu told People, “I had so much fun with Rupert Everett in Rome…his personality is crazy. That was a really great moment.”
If Everett is in need of another role, his “My Best Friend’s Wedding” co-star, Dermot Mulroney, recently told the Post that “there is talk” of a sequel to the classic ’90s Julia Roberts rom-com.
This isn’t the first time an “Emily in Paris” actor has spoken out negatively about the show.
The series premiered in 2020 and was reportedly seen by 58 million households that year. It follows Emily Cooper (Collins), an American who moves to Paris, where she juggles her career and love life.
In October, Lucas Bravo, 37, who plays Emily’s sometimes-lover, the chef Gabriel, told the French newspaper Le Figaro that he doesn’t find the show “intelligent” or “stimulating.”
“Life is short. It takes five months to shoot this series. Do I want to sacrifice them by telling something that does not stimulate me?” he asked.
He added, “I do not want to be a part of a cog that does not tend to take the intelligence of viewers into consideration.”
Despite his words, Bravo is set to return for Season 5, which will premiere at an unannounced date on Netflix.
