“Wheel of Fortune” host Ryan Seacrest, 50, revealed a set secret that the longtime letter-turner and co-host Vanna White never knew existed.
Seacrest shared how the show creates that memorable clicking noise fans hear every time a contestant spins the wheel.
“Do you know the clicking sound? There are rubber bands – like you used to have with orthodontia on your teeth – that’s what makes the clicking,” Seacrest told “Good Morning America” reporter Trevor Ault on Sept. 5.
Ault then looked at the colorful wheel, which consists of 24 pricing wedges, and spotted the bands that Seacrest pointed out.
“I can see it in here,” Ault confirmed.
White, who entered her 43rd season as the show’s co-host in September, turned to Seacrest and shared her shock over the in-game secret.
“Do you know I never knew that?” White asked.
“Well, welcome to season 43,” Seacrest quipped.
Seacrest and White, 58, were promoting the new season of the iconic game show, which premiered on Monday.
Seacrest, who took over hosting duties of “Wheel of Fortune” in 2024 after Pat Sajak announced his retirement in 2023, entered his second season as host of the Emmy-winning show this week.
“I love coming to work every day,” White shared during the interview. “It’s always fun and you never know what’s going to happen.”
White, who has appeared in over 8,100 episodes, isn’t often standing next to the contestants as they spin the iconic and colorful wheel.
But she scored an unexpected gig in November 2019 when she ended up hosting the show for the first time after Sajak underwent emergency surgery for an intestinal blockage.
“We only had one rehearsal before we shot my first show, for timing and for my comfort level,” White recalled in a 2019 interview.
White, who joined the show in 1983, said she only made “a few minor mistakes” that were not related to the game.
“For example, the scoreboard is far from where I’m standing, so my eyesight … I couldn’t see the numbers too clearly so I said, ‘Can you make the font bigger so I can see?’ Silly things like that that you don’t see on camera,” White added in the 2019 interview.
White extended her contract with “Wheel of Fortune” through 2026 and received a “substantial pay increase” to return to the ABC classic, according to TMZ.
