Search underway for Wisconsin grad student Eliotte Heinz

A search was underway in Wisconsin on Tuesday for missing graduate student Eliotte Heinz, who seemingly disappeared shortly after leaving a bar along the Mississippi River over the weekend.

Heinz, a 22-year-old student at Viterbo College in La Crosse, was last seen on surveillance camera walking along the 500 block of Front Street South around 3:22 a.m., about an hour after parting ways with friends after a night at Bronco’s Bar in the city’s downtown area. Her family believes that she was headed toward her apartment on Eighth and Tyler streets when she vanished, The Chippewa Herald reported.

“The La Crosse Police Department continues to follow up on all leads and information as to the whereabouts of Eliotte,” police said in an update on Monday. “Thank you to the community for your support and information provided.”

Eliotte Heinz was last seen Sunday, July 20, according to La Crosse police.

Police have also deployed drones and dive rescue teams amid their search of the Mississippi River.

Few other details were provided, but authorities have asked anyone with tips and footage record near the bar to contact the La Crosse Police Department. Her mother, Amber, echoed the call.

“If you have Ring cameras and if you think you may have captured an image of Eliotte, please call them and let them take a look at your footage,” she told News 8 Now . “Even if you don’t think it’s a big deal, it’s something that’s a really big deal for her.”

Heinz is described as 5 feet 4, 120 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and jean shorts, according to police.
