Senator Cory Booker is officially planning to tie the knot — to a woman with an uncanny resemblance to his ex-girlfriend Rosario Dawson.
The New Jersey lawmaker took to social media Tuesday afternoon to announce his engagement to girlfriend Alexis Lewis.
In an Instagram post that included shots of the couple wearing leis in a tropical setting, Booker said he’s “savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée.”
“Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life,” he wrote. “She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love.”
Lewis, who flashed a wide smile and a simple band in the lead photo of the post, is reportedly an employee at a real estate investment firm.
Booker last month confirmed the relationship was serious in an interview with the Washington Examiner, revealing the couple share a home together in the nation’s capitol.
The 56-year-old Democrat — named one of Town and Country’s Top 50 Bachelors of 2017 — was previously in a high-profile relationship with Dawson from 2019 to 2022. He and the actress lived together during the COVID-19 lockdown before calling off the romance but remaining friends.
Dawson even celebrated her ex-boyfriend’s exciting news, writing “Love Love! Congratulations you two!” in the comments.
In addition to Dawson, Booker has been romantically linked to Instagram poet Cleo Wade and generated buzz for shooting his shot with actress Mindy Kaling on Twitter.
The former mayor of Newark has also painted the town with Gayle King, the Emmy-winning co-anchor of “CBS Mornings,” though he’s denied anything explicitly romantic.
“I wish there was a different word than friend [to describe our relationship] because she’s really one of the best things that’s happened to me,” he told “Extra” in 2013. “On my lowest days, she’s the one that picks me up and calls me, checks in on me, she’s been an incredible friend — [but] that’s it.”
As far as life with his new fiancée, Booker told his social media followers that they’re both “excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us.”
He concluded the announcement by stating: “We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a beautiful community lifting us in love and commitment.”
