F train service was suspended between W 4 St. in Greenwich Village and Coney Island Tuesday morning, after sources say a Brooklyn-bound D train operating on the F line dragged debris along the third rail, causing electrical arc explosions and smoke.
The incident also suspended service on the G line south of the Bedford-Nostrand station.
The train hit the debris somewhere near the Jay St. – Metrotech station in Downtown Brooklyn around 9:30 a.m., sources told the Daily News.
A passenger took to X Tuesday morning, claiming to have been on the train when the 600V arc of electricity occurred.
“I was on this train that sh-t blew up,” the user posted.
Firefighters with the FDNY responded to reports of smoke and loud noises at the station. An FDNY spokesman told The News that units were able to put out a small garbage fire.
Sources told The News that the train was able to continue on to the Bergen Street station, one stop down the line, where all passengers were discharged. No injuries were reported.
The train was inspected there by work crews late Tuesday morning, before being sent to a yard for repairs.
In the meantime, F trains were running on the D line to Coney Island.
