A voluminous Vera Wang wedding dress worn by Carrie Bradshaw in the first “Sex and the City” movie was found in the Goodwill bargain bin.
Ashley Cano, a Poshmark fashion reseller in Chicago says she copped the gown at a deep discount of $18.99.
That paltry price tag pales in comparison to the original price. The eggshell strapless gown is worth roughly $7,500, according to Nearly Newlywed, which sells the pre-owned dress used for $3,000.
Cano was head over heels when she discovered the fashion find during a visit to a new Goodwill Store and Donation Center in the Northwest Side of the Windy City.
“Vera freaking Wang,” she squealed in a TikTok video showing off the dress. “I cannot believe that I found this dress at Goodwill for $18.99!”
She added that she “couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this dress.”
@aileenscloset90 I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this dress. But I fear I may have bit off more than I can chew. It’s so big, so heavy. And I have no clue how to best sell it. Any help? #thrift #resellercommunity #resell #thrifthaul
Cano told CBS News: “I very rarely look at wedding dresses just because I’m not in the market for one, and they just take up so much room, so I saw it, and I was like, that is something you don’t see every day.”
She continued, “And then once I saw that label of it being Vera Wang, I knew immediately that if it was not the dress from ‘Sex and the City,’ it was very similar.”

The sex columnist character Sarah Jessica Parker portrayed in the touchstone HBO franchise wore the frilly frock in a bridal photo shoot for Vogue magazine themed “The Last Single Lady.”
Officially called the Eleanor Bridal Gown, Wang’s classic design was featured alongside more edgy matrimonial looks from high end designers Caroline Herrera, Christian Lacroix, Lanvin, Dior, Oscar de la Renta and Vivienne Westwood during a scene from the 2008 film.
Bradshaw wore the latter for the actual wedding to Mr. Big — where she was jilted — and later repurposed it for the spin-off “And Just Like That” in 2022.
