The Queen of Country Pop is 60!
Shania Twain celebrated her milestone 60th birthday on Instagram Thursday, sharing a throwback photo from earlier in her career and a new underwear-clad photo.
The first image showed a younger Twain in a dressing room wearing a vibrant blue outfit. She rocked a signature 1980s hairdo as she smiled at the camera.
In the second photo, the singer wore nothing but a long-sleeved white dress shirt and a pair of black underwear as she struck a sexy pose with one of her hands over her head.
Behind Twain were the lyrics “Make no conditions get a little outta line” from her hit song “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”
“Happy birthday to me!” Twain began her caption. “How can I be 60? So glad to have kept some photos from this time in the 80s when I had no idea what was ahead of me and Shania f**king Twain didn’t exist yet 😂.”
“I can’t begin to explain how grateful I am for the life that i have,” the superstar continued. “For my family, friends, fans and the inspiration I get from all of you ❤️.”
Twain, in conclusion, added, “I’ve tried to stay true to myself along the way and that’s my intention moving forward into the next chapter.”
Just a few months before turning 60, Twain opened up about how she overcame her body struggles to feel more confident than ever.
“Once I got behind the camera and started looking at clothes and fashion, I was like, ‘Wow, I’m actually a woman after all, and I think I might like it,’” she told US Weekly in March.
“When I wrote ‘Man, I Feel Like a Woman!,’ it was an absolute celebration [of that],” Twain continued. “And I felt empowered behind the camera. I was like, ‘They can’t grab me. I’m safe.’”
When asked what her advice is for people who have body confidence issues, Twain stated, “I wish I’d come to this so much earlier, but I think referencing yourself to others is dangerous.”
“Of course I don’t have the body I imagined — because my image of the perfect body is a supermodel with no cellulite, perfect proportions and a beautiful stride,” she explained. “This is just not me. You can wish a lot of time away ignoring what you actually look like. Just get real with yourself.”
Twain also told the outlet in March that she wants to prioritize herself more in her 60s.
“I feel like I’ve got this pass all of a sudden to care more about myself and say, ‘Hey, I’ve lived 60 frigging years. If you want to do [something], do it!’” she shared.
