Shooting inside Bronx subway station startles strap-hangers; shell casing recovered: cops

At least one gunshot was fired inside a crowded Bronx subway station during the evening rush hour Monday, but no injuries were immediately reported, police said.

The shooting happened inside the 170th St. subway station at E. 170th St. and Grand Concourse on the downtown B and D train platform around 7 p.m., according to cops.

“There was one shot,” said an MTA worker who spoke under the condition of anonymity. “It was two teenagers, and they ran out of the station.”

“Everyone was terrified, but nobody was hit,” the MTA worker said.

Police recovered one shell casing at the scene, cops said.

There were no immediate arrests as police searched for suspects. Police could not immediately confirm the ages of the suspects.

“This is still an active investigation,” a police spokesperson said.
