Simone Biles’ husband, Jonathan Owens, said someone tried to rob him while he was visiting Milan for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“Somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan,” Owens wrote Sunday on social media. “Force of habit I had it tied around my hand, so he couldn’t get it and took off running immediately….but still crazy.”
Owens, a 30-year-old defensive back with the NFL’s Chicago Bears, has been visiting Italy with Biles during this year’s Olympics. He said he came prepared for pickpockets.
“It was no way he could get it off my hand, I’ve seen too many TikToks of that happening so I was prepared,” he wrote in a follow-up post.
Owens also mocked the would-be thief’s speed in other posts, calling it “hilarious how slow he started running away once he saw he couldn’t grab it out of my hand.” However, Owens said he resisted attempting to chase the man down.
“Not fast at all bro, his arms were moving faster than his legs,” he wrote. “Should’ve seen his face once he realized I turned around and he couldn’t grab it.”
Biles and Owens have shared parts of their trip to Italy on social media, with Biles posting snaps from a shopping trip together. In one post, she shared herself holding a Bottega Veneta handbag monogrammed with her initials, SBO.
“I never knew Bottega did this, might be a special Milan thing?!” Biles captioned the post. “But how f—-n’ cute.”
