‘SNL’ denies giving apology to Aimee Lou Wood after ‘mean’ skit

“Saturday Night Live” has denied it issued an apology to Aimee Lou Wood after a skit that mocked the “White Lotus” star’s teeth.

In a since-expired Instagram Story over the weekend, the 31-year-old Brit slammed “SNL” for its parody of her prominent front teeth, calling the sketch “mean and unfunny.” Wood subsequently said she received an apology from the NBC staple, but did not elaborate further.

However, insiders with direct knowledge told TMZ on Tuesday the show did not reach out to Wood with a formal apology.

Though someone from “SNL” who knows Wood may have said sorry, the show itself has not expressed any formal regrets, nor would it feel compelled to as the jokes were all in good fun, the sources say.

Insiders noted that “The White Potus” sketch, which played on the chaos within the Trump administration and his family, took jabs at everyone’s appearance — even ridiculing the president’s weight.

“Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?” Wood said on Instagram Sunday.

“I am not thin-skinned. … But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth,” she added. “I don’t mind caricature. … But the rest of the skit was punching up and I was the only one punched down on.”
