“So You Think You Can Dance” winner Joshua Allen is dead at 36.
A relative told TMZ the Fox reality competition show’s season 4 champion died Tuesday when he was struck by a train in Fort Worth, Texas. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that officers located a man on a set of railroad tracks around 1 a.m., but didn’t identify the victim. He reportedly died in a local hospital.
Allen, who aspired to be a musician and music executive with his own record label, won “SYTYCD” in 2008 by defeating Stephen “tWitch” Boss, who died by suicide in 2022 and would’ve turned 43 on Monday.
Choreographer Emmanuel Heard honored Allen on Instagram by posting a photo and a message.
“I can’t wrap my head around this…Josh…my brotha. There are no words. You were the life of the party,” he wrote.
He called Allen “one of the realest people I ever met” and took comfort in the idea the dance champion was with Boss once more.
Heard told TMZ Allen was great at what he did because he danced to the beat of his own drum. He also had his troubles.
The Texas native was sentenced to a year in a Los Angeles County jail in 2017 following a pair of domestic abuse incidents involving an ex-girlfriend, according to Deadline.
Allen’s final social media post was a July 21 Instagram message mourning the death of actor Malcolm Jamal-Warner, who drown while vacationing in Costa Rica.
“Fly high King,” he wrote to his 54-year-old friend.
