Sonic is a chronic box office winner.
“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” sprinted once again to the No. 1 spot on its second Friday in theaters, reeling in $12.6 million, according to The Numbers.
The action-adventure flick surpassed $100 million in sales in North America in its first eight days of release, according to Variety.
Paramount Pictures is already making plans for a fourth installment of the series, based on the Sega video games, which is slated to be released in 2027.
“Mufasa: The Lion King” remained in second place, with earnings of $12 million.
The Walt Disney Pictures musical drama — which cost a whopping $200 million to make — is projected to earn $58 million over the five-day holiday weekend.
Gothic horror “Nosferatu,” which was released on Wednesday, took third, with sales of $7.25 million.
The remake of the 1922 silent film of the same name stars Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp, the daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis.
The Post called the film a “skin-crawling remake” that “comes in at about 98% dread” and praised its casting as “a fang of beauty.”
Landing in fourth was “Wicked,” moving down a notch from last week and taking in $6.83 million on its sixth Friday in theaters.
“Moana 2” fell down one spot to fifth, with a $6.3 million-dollar take.
The family adventure has made history, becoming one of the top 20 highest-grossing PG movies of all time, as per Collider.
It has also been crowned the fourth highest grossing movie domestically of 2024.
