Rapper Soulja Boy was arrested early Sunday morning after police found a firearm in a vehicle during a traffic stop in Los Angeles, according to authorities.
The 35-year-old artist, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, was a passenger in a vehicle cops pulled over around 2:30 a.m. in Melrose, the Los Angeles Police Department told NBC Los Angeles.
Officers spotted a gun inside the vehicle and later arrested Way on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, police said.
It’s not yet clear why the car was stopped.
In April, a jury slapped the “Crank That” singer with a $4.25 million verdict for sexual assault claims waged by a woman he used to live with, according to Courthouse News.

It’s not immediately known if the musician has been released or has retained legal representation.
The LAPD did not respond to the Post’s request for comment by the time of publication.
