A South Florida doctor has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of his ex-wife earlier this week.
Richard Seith, an eye doctor with an office in Stuart, on Florida’s Atlantic Coast, was taken into custody late Friday evening at his Martin County residence, according to local police.
The 53-year-old optometrist is accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife, Cynthia “Cindi” Sciarrone Seith, early Tuesday morning, just two days before her 55th birthday.
The longtime Spirit Airlines flight attendant was found dead outside her condominium in Lake Worth Beach at around 3 a.m., the Palm Beach Post reported.
According to local ABC affiliate WPBF, she was still wearing her work uniform when she was gunned down.
Cindi Seith filed for divorce in 2024, and the couple’s separation was finalized two months ago, according to Martin County court records cited by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
An investigation into Cindi’s death led detectives to her ex-husband, who was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder. Authorities have not yet said what evidence connected him to the crime.
Richard Seith made his first appearance on Saturday morning, where he was denied bond.
