Student arrested with gun at site of GA high school shooting

A 14-year-old student brought a gun to the same Georgia high school that was the site of a mass shooting back in September, authorities announced.

The unidentified teenager was arrested Wednesday afternoon at Apalachee High School, the Barrow County sheriff’s office said in a statement. Cops did not say when the student arrived at school, but he was detained around 2 p.m.

Apalachee High, about 35 miles northeast of Atlanta, was the scene of a deadly shooting in early September. Colt Gray, also 14, fatally shot two students and two teachers at the school on Sept. 4, according to police.

No one was killed or injured in Wednesday’s incident. The 14-year-old who was detained was “cooperative and compliant” when he was stopped, the Barrow County sheriff’s office said. All classes and activities at Apalachee High were canceled on Thursday.

The teenager was taken to a juvenile detention center and charged with two counts of possessing a weapon on school grounds, theft by taking and being a minor in possession of a firearm.

Meanwhile, Gray was charged as an adult with 55 crimes, including at least four counts of murder. His father, Colin Gray, was also charged with 29 crimes for allowing his son to access firearms and ammunition. Both Grays have pleaded not guilty.

Teachers Christina Irimie, 53, and Richard Aspinwall, 39, along with 14-year-old students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo were killed in the September shooting at Apalachee High.
