A 17-year-old boy was slashed in the head and neck with a scalpel at a Bronx high school on Friday, cops said.
The teen was attacked shortly before noon during a fight inside Fordham Leadership Academy, where he is a student, police said. EMS rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
Police took two of the boy’s classmates into custody. So far there have been no arrests.
“The safety of our students is our very top priority, and this senseless act of violence is unacceptable and deeply concerning,” said Jenna Lyle, a spokeswoman for the city’s public schools. “School staff and NYPD school safety agents immediately responded to an incident between students today, following all protocols. We are grateful that no students were seriously hurt, and we are conducting a full investigation in partnership with the NYPD.”
Fordham Leadership Academy is one of six high schools in the Theodore Roosevelt Educational Campus on E. Fordham Rd. in Belmont.
In February, a 15-year-old student was slashed in the face by a classmate while walking home from the same school campus just before 3 p.m., authorities said. The weapon in that case was not immediately known.
