Suspect arrested for shooting man to death, dumping him behind Bronx hospital

A suspect has been arrested for shooting a 21-year-old man to death — and then dumping him behind a Bronx hospital, police said Thursday.

Desean Edwards, 22, was is facing murder and gun possession charges for the Sept. 2 shooting death of Jontay Davis. Edwards was nabbed on Sept. 11, the NYPD announced Thursday.

Davis was found about 2 a.m. shot in the head behind St. Barnabas Hospital. First responders rushed him into the hospital but he could not be saved.

Medics rushed him inside, but he could not be saved. He lived with family less than a mile from the hospital.

Desean was arrested nine days later and is being held without bail on Rikers Island. He lives in Flatbush, Brooklyn, according to cops.

The victim’s grief-stricken mother said Davis had just graduated high school and wanted to be a mechanic.

“He was a beautiful child,” she said.

Davis’ older sister created a GoFundMe to cover funeral expenses.

Her brother, she wrote, was “left for dead at the back of St. Barnabas Hospital, discarded as if he were nothing.”

“The pain and shock of losing him in such a heartbreaking and cruel way is something our family will carry forever,” she added.

“Jontay was only 21 years old, full of life, dreams, and love for the people around him. He was a son, a brother, an uncle, and a friend who deserved so much more time here with us. Jontay also lived with autism, which gave him a unique and beautiful way of seeing the world. He touched everyone he met with his kindness, his big heart, and his special spirit.”
