Suspect arrested months after NJ mom found shot to death in park

A suspect has been arrested for the killing of Teaoshia Still, a mother of three who was found fatally shot at New Jersey park some six months ago.

Kirk Williams is facing charges including murder, tampering with evidence, unlawful possession of a handgun and  possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose in connection with Still’s slaying, the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement on Wednesday

A jogger out for a run in Millville’s Waltman City Park, located about 40 miles south of Philadelphia, spotted her body the morning of November 9, 2024. Police said Williams shot her multiple times the night before, when Still met up with him at the park to return some of his belongings. It’s not clear what her relationship was with the suspect.

A motive for the killing was also unclear.

Williams was arrested earlier this month and charged with Still’s murder on Wednesday. Prosecutors have requested that he remain behind bars pending trial. He’s due back in court on May 12.

Still’s mother, Doretha, remembered her daughter as a happy person, telling ABC 6 that she had a natural love for life.

“Just a happy-go-lucky person,” she said. “I mean she lived her 36 years. She lived them. She lived them.”

Still’s killing marked the second at Waltman City Park in recent years. Chelmar Townsend, 14, was found dead in the same park in July 2023. Townsend was also shot to death.

No suspects have been arrested or charged in Townsend’s death, according to the Cherry Hill Courier-Post. At the time, police said Townsend was hanging out with friends when an argument turned violent.
