The suspect in a deadly shooting spree that started at a Georgia Walmart died following a standoff with police.
Dwayne Eduh, 24, is believed to have shot three co-workers from a Walmart store in Covington, about 35 miles east of Atlanta, around 1:30 a.m. on April 11, the Newton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Investigators said Eduh grabbed the gun from his car and returned to the store where he shot Khalaf Barksdale, 21, and Ryan Bradley, 29. Barksdale died from her wounds and Bradley was injured but is in stable condition.
He then went to a nearby home, forced his way inside and fatally shot 19-year-old Akeela Clarke.
The circumstances regarding the shooting are unknown, but remain under investigation. The sheriff’s office said the “suspect specifically targeted individuals they knew.” The store was closed at the time with only employees on the premises.

Eduh fled to South Carolina and got into a brief standoff with Aiken County Sheriff’s Office and South Carolina State Troopers later on Friday. He shot himself and was was rushed to a hospital in critical condition where he died on Sunday. Aiken County is about two hours from Covington on the border between the states.
The store was closed Friday but reopened Saturday.
“We’re focused on taking care of our associates and supporting law enforcement with their investigation,” Walmart said in a statement.
There are roughly 500 fatal instances of workplace violence every year in the U.S., according to the Department of Labor.
