Tara Reid’s alleged drugging case closed as cops reach no conclusion

Suburban Chicago police have closed their investigation into the alleged drugging of actor Tara Reid, with cops saying they’ve been unable to reach a conclusion in the case.

Late last month, the “American Pie” star claimed someone slipped a drug into drink while she was at a bar in the DoubleTree Hotel in Rosemont, near the Chicago O’Hare Airport. She said she was hospitalized after struggling to remain lucid, but maintained that she only had one drink.

Reid claimed she ordered a glass of wine, stepped outside to have a cigarette and then returned to finish the drink, which rendered her barely coherent. Rosemont Public Safety officers later told Chicago outlet WFLD that security footage showed no one tampering with her drink.

The man she smoked with outside the bar also claimed there was nothing unusual about the cigarette they shared.

Hotel surveillance video obtained earlier this month by TMZ showed Reid having what appeared to be at least three glasses of wine, though she claims to have no memory of more than one.

TMZ reported Wednesday that police have closed their investigation, citing a lack of evidence. The hospital that treated the 50-year-old performer reportedly didn’t run any chemical tests, so its unclear what, if anything, was in Reid’s system at the time.

Cops didn’t expressly say that Reid’s allegations are false, but stated they would reopen the case if additional evidence comes to light.

First responders treated Reid after a hotel employee called 911 to report a “really inebriated” guest losing consciousness in the early hours of Nov. 23, according to TMZ. Photos and videos showed her being wheeled out on a stretcher and put into an ambulance.

Following the incident, Reid insisted to TMZ that whatever she consumed left her incapacitated in the hospital for roughly eight hours.

“It’s just really scary,” she said.

Reid has a history of substance abuse, which includes a 2008 stint in rehab, according to People.
