Teen, 3 adults arrested in attack on 83-year-old NJ shopper

A 15-year-old male and three adults were arrested for attacking an 83-year-old woman in a New Jersey grocery store parking lot.

“An 83-year-old Somers Point woman was brutally attacked and robbed in front of the ACME and her purse stolen,” Somers Point police posted on Facebook Thursday. “The victim was treated and released from SMC with facial and upper body injuries.”

Cops said they “worked diligently around the clock” since the Oct. 3 robbery to apprehend the teen, who’s been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and theft, along with his trio of alleged accomplices, who are all from New Jersey.

Those suspects were identified by police as Atlantic City residents Charles Ogelsby, Jr., 23, and Emily Labaco, 22, as well as 60-year-old Maria DeSantis from Woodbine.

The attack happened at around 10:50 a.m. last Thursday, which was especially alarming to some in south Jersey.

“In broad daylight!” wrote one person in response to an Oct. 3 Facebook post by Somers Point police. “Be careful out there folks, this world has gone mad!”

At the time, police described one of the suspects as “a younger possibly white male wearing a mask and dark clothing” who fled the scene.
