Teen suspect arrested in stabbing death of 15-year-old LI boy

A 17-year-old male suspect has been arrested in the deadly stabbing of a 15-year-old boy on Long Island, authorities announced Monday.

The teenage suspect, who was identified only as a Syosset resident due to his age, was charged as an adult with second-degree murder, Suffolk County police said in an alert. He stands accused of killing Liam Delemo at a house party in West Babylon on Nov. 3.

Delemo and the suspect were two of nearly 100 young people at the party on Carlton Road on the night before Election Day, cops said. A brawl erupted at the gathering around 10:30 p.m., and Delemo was stabbed in the fracas.

Delemo’s parents said last week they arrived at the home to see their son bleeding to death, but he was still conscious and alert. His mother, Hope, said he told them, “I love you. I’m sorry.” He was later pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

Suffolk County police did not reveal what evidence led them to the 17-year-old suspect. Delemo’s father previously pleaded with people to come forward with information about his son’s killing.

“This whole, ‘If I tell on somebody I’m a rat,’ and all this other stuff, that goes out the window. My son’s dead,” Michael Delemo told WABC last week.

In addition to the stabbing suspect, the homeowner was also arrested and accused of violating Suffolk County’s social host law. The law is designed to prevent adults from hosting underage drinking parties at their residences.

Bonnie Miranda, 70, was accused of allowing her grandson to throw the massive bash. She was also charged with child endangerment. But Delemo’s parents did not blame her.

“It’s not the parents’ fault of the people that had the party or the grandmother,” Michael Delemo told WCBS last week. “Nothing can take back the fact that my son is dead.”
