Ten people, including five firefighters, were injured in a fire that ripped through a Queens tire shop and apartment building early Saturday, officials said.
The fire erupted about 4:30 a.m. in the ground-floor tire shop and quickly spread to the two stories of apartments above on Flushing Ave. near Woodward Ave. in Ridgewood, according to the FDNY.
“This was a deep-seated stubborn fire involving thousands of tires, which makes extinguishment particularly challenging,” Assistant FDNY Chief David Simms said.
Video posted on the FDNY’s X account showed massive walls of smoke billowing out of the building windows.

Roughly 120 firefighters and EMS responded to the blaze and firefighters brought the flames under control by 7:30 a.m., officials said.
Five smoke eaters suffered minor burn injuries and were taken to local hospitals. Five residents also suffered minoir injuruies and were treated at hospitals.
Fire marshals were working to determine the cause of the fire Saturday morning.
