Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett kicked in the chest by horse

Tennessee Republican Rep. Tim Burchett was kicked in the chest by a horse on Sunday, leading to a broken rib and brief hospitalization.

Burchett, 60, was “accidentally kicked by a horse” while working on his farm, his office confirmed Tuesday, according to the Washington Examiner. He was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released the same day.

His press secretary said Burchett had suffered broken a rib and was bruised, but wasn’t planning to cancel any upcoming events. While the House of Representatives is in recess, Burchett is “keeping on keeping on” in East Tennessee, including a Campbell County Rotary Club meeting.

Burchett’s accident came on the same day that he made two appearances on Sunday morning news shows, where he defended President Trump’s highly scrutinized relationship with late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The representative found himself in hot water when he admitted that Trump had flown on Epstein’s private plane, but said that didn’t make him a “dadgum pedophile.”

“You’ve got innocent people on those flight logs ,” Burchett said on ABC’s “This Week,” adding that wealthy people often fly on each others’ planes if their own is “broke down.”

Earlier this month, the congressman voted in favor of subpoenaing convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell to testify before the House Oversight Committee on what she knows regarding Epstein’s alleged crimes and connections.

Burchett, typically one of Trump’s strongest allies in the House, broke away from his Republicans colleagues and joined Democrats in approving the subpoena, despite Trump urging everyone to move on from the Epstein investigation and his past dealings with the disgraced financier.
