Teresa Giudice ditches live interview when asked about taxes

“Real Housewives of New Jersey” star Teresa Giudice ditched a live TV interview on Friday when she was asked a question regarding her ex-husband’s conviction for failing to file tax returns for four years.

The 53-year-old reality star was chatting with Chicago’s WGN News ahead of her “Party with a Housewife!” event in the Windy City next week. She was discussing her nearly two decades on reality TV when anchor Larry Potash asked, “How is it that a family doesn’t pay their taxes for years?”

A confused Giudice asked whose family the reporter was referring to.

“Your family,” he said. “Is that what the fraud charges were?”

It was then that Giudice proclaimed she was hanging up, though she briefly had some technical difficulties. “Let’s just hang up,” she said before officially jumping digital ship.

“Oh, she didn’t like that question. Wasn’t that part of the show?” Potash deadpanned to his co-anchor. “It’s what reality shows are made of.”

Over a decade ago, Giudice served 11 months in federal prison after she and then-husband Joe Giudice pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and three types of bankruptcy fraud.

Joe also pleaded guilty to avoiding income taxes on nearly $1 million between 2004 and 2008. He served three years of his 41-month sentence in a federal prison in Pennsylvania and the remainder in an ICE facility ahead of his deportation to Italy.

News broke in March that Giudice was once again in hot water as she and her current husband, Luis Ruelas, had together been hit with more than $3 million in tax liens — over $300,000 of that belonging to Giudice and nearly $2.6 million to Ruelas.
