“The Studio” reigned supreme at the 77th Primetime Emmy awards, taking home the coveted Outstanding Comedy Series award on Sunday.
Topping the comedy category and tying a record with 23 nominations, co-creator Seth Rogen took to the stage to thank numerous times on Sunday for wins in acting, directing, writing and the biggest comedy win for the night.
Rogen tried to keep the speeches tight throughout the night to avoid bringing down Nate Bargatze’s promised donation to the Boys and Girls Club in America, which went down for every second over the allotted 45 seconds. However, with the award already eaten up by recipients before him, he took a little extra time to thank all the people who made the show possible but especially “the executives,” a cheeky reference to his character.
The comedy had already won nine trophies during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony last week, including Bryan Cranston’s win for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.

The AppleTV+ series also stars Rogen as Matt Remick, the new head of a legacy film studio who struggles to navigate making quality movies with the business reality of generating profits.
When asked if the series is based on his personal experiences with Hollywood executives, Rogan admits he pulled from real and drew some inspiration from Steve Asbell, an exec at 20th Century Fox Studios.
“He’s a lovely guy,” Rogen said on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” in March. He’s very conflicted about what he has to do.”
The Emmy winning comedy made its debut in March and has already been renewed for Season 2.
