“The View” co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin is officially a mom after welcoming her first child with her husband, Justin Griffin.
The news was announced by Whoopi Goldberg at the top of the ABC daytime talk show on Wednesday.
“The first thing we want to do is start by congratulating Alyssa and her husband, Justin, on the birth of their baby boy, Justin Patrick Griffin Jr.,” Goldberg gushed. “He weighted in at 7 lbs. and 19-and-a-half inches.”

“I’m sure they’re tired, but they’re doing well,” Goldberg added as the studio audience erupted into applause.
Griffin followed the announcement with a post on her Instagram Stories, saying Justin Jr. “arrived late last night.”
“We’re overjoyed and so grateful for all the well wishes!” the 36-year-old wrote.
Griffin was noticeably absent from “The View” on Tuesday morning, with Goldberg telling viewers that she was “at the hospital” and currently in labor.
Tuesday was scheduled to be Griffin’s last day before maternity leave. While she’s out, she’ll be replaced by a series of guest hosts, including Amanda Carpenter, Sheryl Underwood, Whitney Cummings, Savannah Chrisley and former co-hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Abby Huntsman.
On Monday, Griffin shared advice for those who will be stepping in while she’s on maternity leave.
“Authentically be yourself,” she said. “Each of us brings our own view, you’re not here as a Republican party spokesperson, you’re not here as a defender of the current administration, you’re not here as an opponent, you’re there to say authentically what you believe when presented with the issues of the day.”
Griffin, who served as the White House director of strategic communications during Donald Trump’s first presidential term, has been open in the past about her struggles with fertility, which included five rounds of IVF before she finally conceived.
Along the way, Griffin learned she had endometriosis, a chronic condition that can make getting pregnant more challenging.
“I went undiagnosed my whole life until I started this process. So that just added to the complications,” Griffin told People in October.
Despite the challenges, joy took over when she learned that she and her husband were expecting a son, saying she was “so excited to be a boy mom.”
