“Thunderbolts*” hit the ground running.
The Marvel superhero flick took first place at the box office this Friday, its opener, raking in $31.5 million.
The Post called the action-adventure, starring Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, “Marvel’s most entertaining movie in ages.”
It could take home over $165 million worldwide this weekend, according to Deadline.
“Sinners,” which was in the number one spot for two consecutive Fridays since its release, moved down a notch to second, with sales of $9.5 million.
The horror film, which stars Michael B. Jordan, is expected to earn over $33 million at the domestic box office this weekend, its third in theaters.
In third place was “A Minecraft Movie,” with $3.1 million in revenue.
Last week, Jack Black’s song from the movie “Steve’s Lava Chicken,” made the Billboard Hot 100 chart. At just 34 seconds long, it made history as the shortest ever to make the list.
“The Accountant 2” fell down a spot to fourth, earning just over $2.6 million.
The action sequel came nine years after its original, and its star Ben Affleck is already entertaining the idea of a third installment in the series.
“That’s a question I want to ask Bill [Dubuque, its screenwriter] and Gavin [O’Connor, its director]. I’m just waiting for another great script,” he told the New York Times.
Remaining in fifth place was the horror movie “Until Dawn,” with a $1.1 million dollar take.
