TikTok star Tea Tyme arrested for fatal accident while livestreaming

A TikToker accused of mowing down a pedestrian in suburban Chicago while livestreaming on the platform has been arrested in Illinois.

Social media star Tea Tyme, whose real name is Tynesha McCarty-Wroten, was taken into custody on Tuesday and booked on two felonies, reckless homicide and aggravated use of communications resulting in death, according to online records from the Zion Police Department.

The charges stem from a deadly car crash on Nov. 3, which resulted in the death of 59-year-old Darren Lucas, TMZ reported.

Lucas was walking at an intersection in Zion, near his hometown of Beach Park, when he was struck by a passing car, police said. Inside the vehicle, McCarty-Wroten was addressing viewers on TikTok, capturing the moment as the crash occurred.

“F–k, f–k, f–k … I just hit somebody,” she says in the clip, according to screen recordings captured by other users and shared online.

A child apparently riding in the vehicle with the 43-year-old can be heard repeatedly asking “What was that?” before the stream finally cuts out.

Police said McCarty-Wroten immediately called 911 and remained at the scene to speak with responding officers.

Lucas, who worked at a grocery store across the street, was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead of blunt force injuries, according to The Guardian. A GoFundMe has since been set up to raise financial support for his widow.

McCarty-Wroten, whose Tea_Tyme_3 TikTok account has since been deleted from the platform, remains behind bars without bond.
