Timberwolves star Naz Reid’s sister shot dead in New Jersey

Minnesota Timberwolves star Naz Reid’s sister Toraya Reid was fatally shot at a New Jersey apartment complex over the weekend.

After reports of shots being fired, police found Toraya Reid, 28, unresponsive at the Paragon apartment complex in Jackson around 11 a.m. Saturday. She had apparently been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers saw Shaquille Green, 29, running away and were able to take him into custody without incident. He was ultimately arrested and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said Green and Reid had been in “a dating relationship,” but did not provide further details.

Green “was transported to the Ocean County Jail where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Jackson is about 31 miles northeast of Philadelphia.

“My older sister is super protective,” he said. “She treats us like she’s our parent.

Reid referenced his sister’s death in his Instagram Stories on Sunday and Monday.

“Her name was Toraya Reid. She was murdered by her boyfriend. She has a name,” he wrote over a screengrab of a newspaper article about her death. He also posted several photos of the two together over the years.

The siblings all attended Roselle Catholic High School in Union County.
